Missy Elliot Statue To Replace Confederate Monument

There's an online viral petition gaining steam to replace a confederate monument with a statue of the one and only Missy Elliot.

According to Newser, 25,000 have signed the petition asking for the removal of a confederate monument, but that's not all they're asking. They want a Missy monument in it's place. The monument is in Portsmouth, Virginia. Missy Elliot is from Portsmouth, Virginia, so it would almost make sense for them to want to honor her. A statue might be a bit much, but who am I to judge.

Nathan Coflin came up with the idea, suggesting, ""Together we can put white supremacy down, flip it and reverse it."

The report says that once the petition caught steam on Twitter there was no stopping it. The petition will be sent to Portsmouth government officials for consideration.
