If you've ever seen a moose up-close, you know just how big and bulky they are. Over the weekend, Two people in a Mini Cooper are "lucky to be alive" after finding out the hard way. The 2-door Mini was headed north on I-93 in New Hampshire late Saturday nigh when it hit a moose.

The Compton-Thornton Fire Rescue Facebook page says the car hit the moose then ran off the highway into some trees. They credit other drivers with taking life-saving action in helping free the two people out of the Mini Cooper. The top of the vehicle had to be partially torn off. The driver suffered minor injuries, and the passenger was more seriously hurt, but the injuries are non life-threatening.

Some of those who responded on the fire-rescue departments Facebook page say they had seen the moose along the highway shortly before the crash. Some said that they are a very common sight along I-93 in that region. Something to keep in mind if you have any plans of driving north through New Hampshire.
