Usually around the holidays, a lot of friends that may have moved away after high school come back to the SouthCoast to spend some time with family. This is also the time that old friends get back together for a few cocktails and reminiscing.

I was fortunate enough to meet up with some old friends that I hadn't seen in at least a decade. Now, of course, I knew a lot about what has happened in their lives because of the wonderful world of social media. However, we still had so much to talk about.

Before we knew it, we had been chatting for three hours and it was getting late, and by late, I mean it was 10 p.m. We realized we had simply picked up where we had left off even though our lives were drastically different. We also realized how important a role social media has played in keeping up connected and informed of what each other has been up to.

It was comforting to know that no matter where you go or what you have done, you can still connect with those that helped mold you. I certainly hope we don't wait another 10 years before catching up again.

Did you get a chance to catch up with some old friends? Maybe even some you probably didn't want to reconnect with? That brings up another question – have you had a high school reunion that you attended? I have one coming up soon and I'm thinking it may get a little awkward.
