Who would be looking for a Happy Meal on Christmas Day?   McDonald's is thinking that a lot of people would.

Fox News reports that this week the company began encouraging its franchisees to open on Christmas.  Many of the company owned restaurants did open on Thanksgiving this year, and since AAA estimates that over 90 million Americans will be on the highways to travel more than 50 miles on Christmas, there may be a market.

Times are changing for the company.  In his first published operations manual, McDonald's founder Ray Kroc said the company will close on Thanksgiving and Christmas to give employees time with their families.   Feel free to comment below with your thoughts about McDonald's opening on Christmas day.
