Fred the pig has become a bit of a local celebrity here on the SouthCoast, and it's all thanks to his love affair with his new dog bed.

Pine Meadow Alpacas in Mattapoisett recently shared a photo of Fred and his bed on its Facebook page, writing that after they purchased the bed, they originally put it inside Fred's house so he would have something to sleep with at night. But in the morning, they discovered that Fred had brought the bed outside. This game went on for a few days until they saw Fred outside, lounging on his bed and soaking up the sun.

I saw this and knew I had to meet Fred. I made a trip over to Pine Meadows on Marion Road, where Lauren gave me a tour of the farm and introduced me to the pig of the hour himself, Fred.

Lauren said Fred is pretty even-keeled and likes to go with the flow most of the time, but when it comes to feeding times, he doesn't mess around. Fred will definitely let you know he's ready for some food.
