Mattapoisett’s Oxford Creamery Downsizing and Some Favorites May Be Gone For Good
We tend to resist change in the Tri-Town. It doesn't sit well with most of us. That’s why it’s taken a minute for the news to really sink in that Mattapoisett's Oxford Creamery is for sale. Ken and Liz Ackerman made the announcement a couple of weeks ago that they are looking for buyers to take over the well-established, legacy quick-serve restaurant.

A second wave of news hit today, and it’s going to be hard to swallow for hardcore Oxford Creamery fans.
I should say there’s good news and bad news.

First, the Good News About Oxford Creamery
The good news is that Oxford Creamery's Oxcart food truck will be opening up for the season on Thursday, April 3. The Oxcart will be open in the Oxford Creamery parking lot Thursdays through Sundays from noon to 8 p.m.
So What's the Bad News About Oxford Creamery?
The bad news is that they'll be operating exclusively out of the Oxcart, and the menu will be limited. The creamery building itself will not be open.
It’s hard to think about, but there are many items on the Oxford Creamery menu board that you may have had for the last time.
I doubt that their scallop plate will make its way to the Oxcart. That means you’ve enjoyed your last Oxford Creamery scallop plate – and didn’t even know it. Ouch. That stings. However, Oxford Creamery did say on Facebook it would have items like burgers and its famous lobster rolls.
Oxford Creamery Could Live On Under New Ownership
Before you fall into despair, remember that Oxford is for sale, and Ken and Liz Ackerman are the kind of people who will want to make sure their legacy lives on. While you may have had your last scallop plate with Ken and Liz at the helm, it’s entirely possible that the new owners will serve up scallops, too. It’s also entirely possible that they won’t.
Let’s just embrace the little piece of Oxford we have left for now.
