Massachusetts Legendary Typewriter Shop Closing Its Doors
Lots of history is behind the doors of this Massachusetts typewriter shop that is about to close for good.
Tom Furrier has owned the vintage typewriter shop for decades. It was originally founded by Edward Vanderwalle almost 60 years ago, so this is more than just a shop, it's an historic landmark.
Even celebrities like Tom Hanks knows about the business, as he sent an antique typewriter he had to the shop as a gift just a few years ago.
The resurgence of antiques as decor has surely helped the shop and Furrier makes no reference to any "lack of business" as being the reasoning behind the closure. As a matter of fact, Furrier stated in a recent Facebook post that his desire to retire is the reason the shop will close in late March.
The shop will be having a "Going Out of Business" before it closes, and Furrier's collection of typewriters is unlike any you can find in the world. We have a feeling he won't have any problem clearing out the shop.
Like many of our favorite restaurants that have closed, where each table has memories that so many of us shared, so has each typewriter helped write so many letters and even some best-selling books.
May the sound of clicking and dings of each typewriter in the shop live on long after the closing of this legendary business.
