Massachusetts Ranks High on List For Psychopaths
Given the choice of Massachusetts or Rhode Island, which state's population would you say would be more prone to psychopathic behavior? I'm not going to lie, I was a little surprised by the results.
Cue the Alfred Hitchcock music.
A new study was published by the Social Science Research Network aimed to establish which state is home to the most psychopaths. Ryan Murphy, professor of Southern Methodist University collected his research by looking at surveys conducted in 2013, that determined the levels of five personality traits; agreeableness, extraversion, openness, conscientiousness, and neuroticism. Taking his research, Murphy ranked each state by its psychotic level.
We'll save you the work of scrolling down in this Men's Health article to see where Massachusetts ranked on the list. The Bay State ranks 15th in the country for the most psychopaths. Not the worst, but it's certainly just a little unsettling. Rhode Island ranked relatively low. Way to go Rhode Island! They were 29th out of the 50 states. Imagine how low Rhode Island would have ranked without all the summertime traffic on 114 South!
Before you think that Rhode Island just ranks low because of it's small size, take a look at the number one ranked location for psychopaths. Washington, DC was the granddaddy of them all!
