Massachusetts Nurses Protesting Hospitals
Question 1, a serious question to a lot of nurses in Massachusetts feel is being misrepresented. These nurses feel that hospitals are deceiving voters into voting no on question one, while they claim most actual nurses will vote yes.
The Patient Safety Act, also known as Question 1 is about patient limits on nurses. The law would make it so the max number of patients a nurse can have is four, seeing some have upwards of ten right now, which is not beneficial to anyone, they claim.
The Massachusetts Nurses Association are protesting Partners Healthcare, which includes Mass General and others, claiming that the nurse managers in the advertisements they run are way more concerned about the bottom dollar and investments than actual care (via Boston25News.com). Now the cons of voting yes do include potentially longer wait times in the emergency room and higher premiums, but as always, do your own research, and get out and vote.
