Boston's historic Beacon Hill neighborhood has been home to many famous folks, including, most recently, former U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.

A short walk from the Massachusetts State House, Public Garden and Boston Common, Acorn Street is among Boston's most affluent residential neighborhoods.

Acorn Street is a private way located in the heart of the Beacon Hill neighborhood owned and governed by a neighborhood association.

Boston Sightseeing says Acorn Street "is often called the most photographed street in America."

The company's website says, "Take a stroll down Acorn Street, and you'll feel like you're in a postcard-perfect New England town. The charming red-brick buildings with their black shutters and flower boxes are just begging to be admired."

Acorn Street, known for its historic brick row houses and cobblestones, was built in the 1820s and still boasts many original buildings. Neighbors retained ownership from the City of Boston in the 1980s.

Old Town Trolly Tours says, "Acorn Street offers visitors a reminiscent ride back to colonial Boston. It was on this lovely street that artisans and tradespeople lived and today the row houses are considered to be a prestigious address in Beacon Hill."

Tripadvisor.com calls Acorn Street a landmark and readers rate it four out of five stars. The site reminds visitors that Acorn Street "is a neighborhood and visitors are asked to move quietly and quickly through this area."

The closest T stop to Acorn Street is Charles/MGH on the Red Line. Several parking garages and metered street parking are nearby.
