Massachusetts’ Most Popular Green Foods
Part of the fun of St. Patrick's Day is celebrating with friends and family while donning green, a "Kiss Me I'm Irish" shirt and other festive garb.
You can even bring the luck of the Irish into the menu.
Yes, corned beef and cabbage will be consumed. A lot of it. It's a tradition for many Irish-Americans that dates back to the 1800s when many immigrants could only afford the cheapest cuts of meat which they would cook with cabbage.
Over the years, many have put their personal spin on things and gotten pretty creative.

Most Popular Green Foods By State
Google has discovered what green food and drink each state is consuming and the answers are both interesting and delicious.
From sweets like whoopie pies to savory options like spaghetti with pesto, and even festive drinks like Irish margaritas (I don't know what that is, but I want one), each state has a favorite.
Desserts Are Dominant
A sweet treat is what many crave across the country as a handful of states enjoy mint brownies, pistachio cookies and cakes, and shamrock pie which is a version of lemon meringue or mint chocolate pie that's been dyed green.

The Floridian staple, key lime pie, isn't the Sunshine State's favorite. They enjoy grasshopper whoopie pie.
However, two states do enjoy the citrus dessert. Alaska and Vermont chose key lime pie as their favorite.
Massachusetts Enjoys a Sweet Treat
The top green food in Massachusetts can be found at many grocery stores and local bakeries around this time of year. Shamrock cookies are the most popular green food in the Bay State.
These are always fun to have on-hand or to bring to a gathering. There's something about a fun shaped cookies and green sprinkles that always have kids (and kids at heart) clamoring for more.
Rhode Islanders make a more boring selection as Irish cabbage is the most popular. I'd rather have a grasshopper cocktail like New Mexico or maybe a green mimosa like in West Virginia or a shamrock milkshake in Hawaii.
Enjoy your green favorite treat this weekend.
