Good news, SouthCoast ladies, Massachusetts loves you. It really loves you.

WalletHub recently released a study that found the state of Massachusetts is the overall best state for a woman, with Rhode Island rounding out the top 10.

And WalletHub has the numbers to back it up.

They compared “Women’s Economic & Social Well-Being” and “Women’s Health Care & Safety” across the country. They broke it down even further into specific metrics, such as median earnings and unemployment rate, which were graded on a 100-point scale. The weighted average across all those metrics had Massachusetts at No. 1, with an overall score of 74.61.

According to the findings, Massachusetts crushed it with women’s health care and friendliness toward working moms, but it could still use some work on its share of women-owned businesses.

Rhode Island came in 10th place, with a score of 67.31. Sounds like my home state has some catching up to do, but I will say that my experience has been a positive one.

I consider myself extremely lucky to work in a state that has provided me with equal opportunity and has done its part in keeping me safe. No place is perfect, and the country has a long way to go before women are fully represented equally and fairly, but I feel fortunate to live in an area where I feel seen and heard.

However, I’m curious. To my female Massachusetts natives, are you shocked by these results, or does it seem about right to you? It sounds like moms are really important to the Bay State, would you agree or disagree?

Everything Massachusetts is Working to Ban in 2022

Every year our state senators and representatives work out new rules and regulations for Massachusetts. From amending laws to repealing laws, allowing certain actions or banning them, our state government brings a lot of ideas to the table each and every year. These are the bills aimed at banning things proposed for 2022.

Impressive SouthCoast Women to Cheer For on International Women's Day

International Women's Day is a perfect time to give praise to the women in our lives and acknowledge their journey and achievements. In my two years of working on the SouthCoast, I am lucky to have come across some impressive women, and these ladies embody everything I aim to be as a successful, caring, and motivated woman.
