Firefighters face a higher risk of cancer, often developing it earlier and receiving diagnoses later.

That's the startling information that the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services shared on its Facebook page.

This March, they're helping fellow firefighters by offering free screenings at various locations.

The Department of Fire Services provides free cancer awareness, prevention and early detection programs through the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy.
