Martha's Vineyard and Clifford the Big Red Dog Share a History

Clifford the Big Red Dog has been delighting young readers for over 60 years and the Martha’s Vineyard Museum is giving the SouthCoast a chance to get into Clifford’s world with an exciting new exhibit dedicated to the loveable pup.

The Martha's Vineyard Museum is a great place to learn about the Vineyard's history and culture, but it is also a place of exploration and fun with its ever-changing exhibits.

The traveling exhibit about Clifford is making its way to the Vineyard, and it turns out that Clifford's creator has a personal tie to the area.

What to Expect

Here is your chance to play with Clifford and Emily Elizabeth.

"Clifford: Our Big Red Dog" invites children and adults to play, explore and learn about Clifford and his creator, Norman Bridwell.

Fun Fact: Norman Bridwell called Martha’s Vineyard home for over 40 years.

"Clifford: Our Big Red Dog" will be at the Martha’s Vineyard Museum from Jan. 27 to July 14 in the Hollinshead, Cox and Fleishner Galleries.

The museum invites the community to attend the free opening day celebration on Saturday, Jan. 27 for hands-on activities, snacks and a chance to meet the big, red dog himself.

Clifford is a character that has touched multiple generations. This exhibit will bring joy to not only children but also to the parents who grew up reading about the big, red dog.
