Marion General Store Has New Proprietors That Sound Like a Perfect Fit for the Town
It's been two months since Marion General Store hung up a sign on their main entrance that read "Marion General Store is Officially Closed. Thank You for 52 Years from the Cheney Family."

The store's closing sent ripple effects down Front Street and all the way over to Converse Road and beyond. The town was stunned. The Cheney family's Marion General Store had been the center of Marion life for half a century. The exit left more questions than answers. Would the store ever reopen? If so, would it be the same General Store we knew? Or something different?
The store sat, quietly waiting for the right moment to reveal the answers. Memorial Day Weekend came and went. There were plenty of rumors, but nothing concrete.
Until today.
Marion's General Store is Under New Proprietorship
There will be a major change coming to the Marion General Store. The store is now run by a young couple named Will and Amy, who casually identified themselves in a Facebook post as "the new proprietors of the Marion General Store."
Will and Amy acknowledged that there is an element of innocent curiosity surrounding the store. They even joked that they'd heard rumors about themselves over the past few weeks as they prepare to bring the store back to life.
They outlined a little bit about themselves on the Marion General Store Facebook page, "We are sailors and farmers who love historic preservation. Amy is a baker and writer, while Will is a full-time maritime professional." This could be a match made in heaven. Not sure if it's possible to have a better fit than a couple who loves history, enjoys baking, and has the ocean as an office.
When Will the Marion General Store Reopen?
It seems as if Will and Amy are just as eager to reopen as the public is to walk through the store's doors again. The General Store will stay closed while they prepare for the next chapter, and it should be back up and running at some point this summer.
Will There Be Changes?
Yes. Will and Amy look forward to bringing "new offerings to the community." However, they also promise to keep all the things that have made the General Store so special when it was run by the Cheney family.
Best of luck to Will, Amy and the Cheneys.
