Marion Baker to Appear Thanksgiving Night on Food Network Game Show
Debi Lindsey Morrison is getting set for an eventful Thanksgiving. Not only is she preparing the turkey, she's getting ready to appear on the Food Network on Thanksgiving night.
Debi is from Wareham's famous Lindsey family. Yes, those Lindsey's, the family that had one of the most successful restaurants in Wareham's history. You would think if she were to appear on the Food Network it would be more about how to prepare Lindsey's famous turkey gravy or their seafood bisque.
"Yeah, especially where my background is in public speaking, hospitality, always front of the house," said Morrison. "To be doing something like this is a little random. I've loved baking my whole life, though."
The Christmas Cookie Challenge
Morrison will appear on the Christmas Cookie Challenge Thanksgiving night at 9 p.m. on the Food Network. The segment was filmed in a set that looked like Santa's Workshop over the course of 3 days in Los Angeles back in April. The grand prize? $10,000.
"It starts with a 90-minute challenge," said Morrison. "Start to finish to create a cookie. They judge it. I was able to choose my ingredients for this challenge, which was still stressful, but not too bad."
If you make it through to the next round, you're looking at a two and a half hour challenge where the show gives you a specific ingredient that you have to somehow work into the recipe.
All of the cookies created were holiday cookie themed.
Rolling In The Dough
Since 2015, Debi has been running a cookie business out of her Marion home that can provide custom cookies for any event: holidays, weddings, showers, or birthdays. She also teaches classes at local venues. Orders can be made for a dozen cookies to the 450 cookie order coming next week.
Cookie Tips
With so many people baking cookies over the next 4-5 weeks, Debi shared two golden rules.
#1. CHILL your dough!
#2. NEVER use warm butter. They will spread your cookies!
The takeaway? Chill your dough and chill your butter!
Yeah, a little too hard. Happy Thanksgiving. Thank you.
You too.
