Massachusetts Arts Center Offers Free Bike Maintenance Day
The sun is shining, the birds are chirping and the fresh air is calling your name.
It's the time of year where we're all searching for ways to spend as much time outdoors as possible. Lucky for us, local bike trails are abundant and they're extremely popular.
If your bicycle needs a little TLC before your next ride, take advantage of Marion Art Center's Community Bike Tune-Up event.
When and Where the Event Takes Place
On Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. experts will be on hand at the MAC to look your bike over and help with things such as brake adjustment or chain lubrication. In the event of more serious issues, they can provide advice about repairs that should be addressed before hitting the road.

Bike repair volunteers will not be able to replace broken spokes, brake pads or provide other parts.

Who Is Running the Event
"We have wonderful volunteers at the MAC who have a host of talents," Program Director Heather Corrigan said. "Almost every event that we have at the MAC is made possible by our volunteers. We are lucky that we have a few people who really know their way around bicycles and bike maintenance."
While the volunteers are hard at work, guests can enjoy coffee and games to keep the whole family entertained.
"Summer is such a short but beloved season in New England and sometimes taking something off the checklist, like making sure your bike is ready and safe for the road, is a nice way to kick off summer and help your neighbor," Corrigan said.
Part of ArtWeek SouthCoast
The event is part of ArtWeek SouthCoast, an event held annually that aims to bring the community together through the work of local artists, performers, cultural groups, creative businesses, and community organizations.
"We love to support activities that are important to the community," Corrigan said. "ArtWeek is a chance for us to think a little out of the box in terms of what you would expect for programming at an Arts Center."
"This week is especially meaningful for us because it highlights low cost and free programming," she said.
How to Participate or Sign Up
The bike tune-up is free with walk-ins welcome. However, the MAC encourages those interested to sign up for an arrival time slot, as space is limited.
