A man was pulled from the waters off Pier 3 early Thursday morning.

Det. Capt. Steven Vicente says that at 3:30 a.m. officers received a call about a man in the water.

The man's screams were heard by the captain of a nearby fishing vessel who found the victim holding on to an anchor rope.

Vicente says that it appears the man was going into shock after having been in the water for quite some time.

Officers threw him a life ring and guided him to a dock ladder.

The victim, identified only as a 46-year-old Rhode Island man, was brought out of the water with the assistance of the fire department.

Vicente says the man was completely nude at the time and was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital to be treated for hypothermia and is expected to survive.

It's believed he is a fisherman from one of the docked vessels.
