Two Toy Soldiers Lost on Marion Beach Spark Real Life Toy Story Moment
My kids are heading to college this fall, but it was not too long ago that losing a toy could completely ruin the day, especially for my son.
"Where my Diego go?" he would say in his two year old voice. That stressful question almost always came about 45 minutes into the ride home from my parents’ house.
Too often, that question sent chills through our veins because we had no idea where the little Diego action figure had disappeared to. My son would go through phases where a single toy was “the chosen one” for months on end. He would take it into the bathtub, in the car, and (much to our dismay) on trips, where he would inevitably lose it.
A Story About a Lost Toy Soldier
That is why this story about a lost toy soldier on Marion’s Silvershell Beach hit home for me. A little boy, possibly named James, was playing with his beach toys all day. As the sun began to set, he and his mom started to clean up their area.
There was one problem, though. A couple of his toy soldiers had gone missing.
The Missing Soldiers Reappear
“Well, we just left the beach,” says Erin Sharp, “and look what turned up in the sand. Not one, but two of his favorite toys.”
Erin’s family discovered one blue and one green toy soldier still left in the sand to fend for themselves. In what felt like a real-life chapter of Toy Story, Erin hoped to find the boy’s mom or a relative so the lost toys could be returned to the boy who clearly cherished them.
