Monday marked the premiere of MTV Classics, a series featuring your favorite shows from your childhood including, Beavis and Butt-head, Aeon Flux, and MTV Unplugged. That day in history has special significance, commemorating the launch of MTV 35 years ago on August 1st, 1981. The debut hour of MTV Classic will replicate the first hour of programming in MTV's history.

"From Beavis and Butt-head to Laguna Beach, MTV’s programming vault is a music and pop culture goldmine with universal resonance," Sean Atkins, President of MTV, noted in a statement to Rolling Stones. "MTV Classic gives audiences a modern and artful home for classic MTV programming and — alongside MTV, MTV2, MTV Live and mtvU — rounds out a diverse portfolio with music and youth culture at its core."

MTV Unplugged is one of MTV's most infamous series ever produced. The series first aired November 26, 1989, featuring Squeeze, Syd Straw and Elliot Easton. The first 13 episodes were hosted by American singer-songwriter Jules Shear and featured Boston's own Aerosmith.

So get yourself some Beavis and Butt-head PJ's and a bowl of popcorn and enjoy this blast from the past!
