An exciting development has sprouted overnight as Fairhaven could potentially become the new home of Lazer Gate.

The longtime laser tag company out of Fall River has been searching since about December 2021 for a new location after its original space within a mill on Plymouth Avenue was sold to be converted into storage units. This purchase has affected other businesses as well, such as Straight Shooters and Trader Jan's.

Lazer Gate Owner Kevin O'Hara, of Westport, has been adamant about keeping Lazer Gate alive and well. Although he'd like to keep the business within Fall River, availability is scarce. So O'Hara began spanning out through the SouthCoast in search of a location that best suits the business.

Late Tuesday night, O'Hara took to Facebook and posted an update:

Keep in mind that a move to a former Ocean State Job Lot is not set in stone, but could potentially work well for a laser tag arena given the large space and tall ceilings.

O'Hara has been on the hunt ever since news broke of the forced move and joined the Michael and Maddie Show Wednesday morning.

"I've been trying to find a new place to live; that's kind of my job 24/7 right now," O'Hara tells Fun 107. "The old Ocean State Job Lot in Fairhaven is a pretty good size and can fit pretty much everything that we do. Seems pretty solid, it's a good location all around."

There's even talk about possibly bringing back some of the older attractions such as bumper cars.

When does the Fairhaven location become official and what are the other options on the table?

"We're still in the beginning stages," O'Hara said. "I just met with the facilities agent and also looked at other places as well to keep our options open as we're getting down to the wire. I've checked out Fall River, but the only available mill space doesn't have working elevators or aren't accessible. I've also checked out South Dartmouth and all over New Bedford."

How about New Bedford's Kilburn Mill?

"I've had discussions, but will be reaching out again. I heard there was some pretty good space available on the third floor."

Lazer Gate's final day at the Plymouth Avenue location will be March 19, with the goal to be fully out of the building by the beginning of April.

We'll give you updates as they develop.
