How sad is this?  I know we are in a time now where we are seeing closings of our favorite places all over the U.S. The latest closing is the beloved Arnold's Lobster & Clam bar, on Route 6 in Eastham, MA.

Facebook Comments Were Shut Off When Arnold's Announced it's Closing

From their Facebook page, the closing is a hard thing to do for the owners.  They have shut off the comments for the announcement and honestly, I don't blame them.  If they have made the decision to move on, hearing how much people are going to miss the place would probably be very hard for them.

When they opened for the season in May, they had many positive comments like Eileen who said she ate at Arnold's from 2004 - 2019.  She celebrated her 50th birthday there and her 25th Anniversary.

Maureen found a way, however, to comment on the closing in the announcement post.  Maureen said she always hoped to get to the restaurant someday, but she hopes someone will buy the property and carry on the owner's tradition.

The Owner of Arnold's Thanks the Loyal Customers and His Staff

In his final Facebook post, Nick, the owner, thanked the customers for coming back year after year, bringing their children, grandchildren and celebrating milestones at the restaurant.  Nick also thanked his staff who stood beside him on the busiest of Summer days.  He goes on to credit the staff for the success of the restaurant as much as anyone.

If you own something for 50 years, that's your entire life, pretty much.  It must be very hard for him to say goodbye.  Maybe someone will come and take the place over.  We can only hope.

All the best, Nick!  Thanks for everything!
