Roland Emmerich may be on his press tour for 'White House Down,' but he can't stop talking about ‘Independence Day 2.’ He already broke the news that Will Smith won't be returning, but now for some good news: Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman will be back to battle aliens.

Emmerich was talking to Movies.com when the subject of the sequel -- which was recently scheduled for release on July 3, 2015 -- came up, and the director spilled the beans on Goldblum and Pullman coming back. In the first film Goldblum played the computer genius David Levinson, while Pullman played President and fighter pilot Thomas J. Whitmore.

Details have been scarce on the plot, but Emmerich previously said of the sequel that ”The humans knew that one day the aliens would come back, and they know that the only way you can really travel in space is through wormholes. So for the aliens, it could take two or three weeks, but for us that’s 20 or 25 years.” He's also promised a cast that will be about half returning performers, and half newcomers (at least to the franchise).

Also worth noting in this news is that if Goldblum is coming back for 'Independence Day 2,' it likely means he won't be appearing (at least as a lead) in 'Jurassic Park 4.' But if he does somehow manage to star in both, 2015 will be the summer of Goldblum.
