How To Help Build Inaugural Buoy Tree at Mattapoisett YMCA
It'll be a classic coastal Christmas at the Mattapoisett YMCA this season and you can be a part of it. The harborside YMCA is going to be decorating with a fittingly festive buoy tree for the holidays and you can help it come together.
Towering trees made of buoys are nothing new to New England. In fact just last Christmas one was introduced at the Maritime Center in Padanaram Village. This season the SouthCoast will see at least two.
That's because a local YMCA is adding a buoy tree to their Christmas plans, with proceeds raised by those who decorate supporting the annual campaign.
According to the Mattapoisett YMCA's event page they are asking the community to paint and decorate the buoys for the tree or sponsor one for the children in their child care program to craft. Buoys are going for $100 a piece and because the YMCA is a not-for-profit organization, the price is completely tax deductible.
Whether you choose to decorate or donate a buoy, you can certainly see them all lit up outside the Mattapoisett YMCA. The plan is for a Holiday Tree Lighting Event for their first ever buoy tree on Thursday December 8 from 5 P.M. - 7 P.M.
Best part is, the tree lighting event is free and full of family fun.
Leading up to the actual lighting of the inaugural buoy tree will be a bonfire, food truck, free children's activities plus a visit from Santa.
Be there to see the tree or be part of the tree. You can learn more about buying or sponsoring a buoy on the Mattapoisett YMCA Facebook page and website.
