Marco is a senior at Greater New Bedford Regional Voc-Tech who lost his mother early this year. It's a been a trying year for him since.

Marco has dealt with more at age 17 than most do by the middle of their adult lives. In May, Marco's mother passed away after complications from a surgery related to her diabetes. Since her passing, Marco's family has struggled with everything from putting food on the table to buying clothes for Marco for school.

In order to make ends meet, Marco's father works seven days a week and is often not at home. Because of this, Marco often goes days where his only substantial meal comes from school at lunch. Finances are very tight for Marco's family so he doesn't have a car which means he can't find a job for himself or get himself any basic necessities.

Marco is a top-performing student at GNBR Voc-Tech and Voc is hoping they can get placement for Marco at a job close to school he could walk to. However, most heartbreaking of all, Marco's biggest wish for the holiday season was to get a tombstone for his mother's grave as the family couldn't afford one so when he goes to visit her, he has a hard time locating exactly where she is buried. In addition, Marco told us he's lost quite a bit of weight in the last year so most of his clothes don't fit him. We would love to do what we can to ensure Marco has more consistent food on his table and can work towards getting himself a car so he can get a job when he graduates next year.
