Holiday Wish Week: Domestic Violence Victim from Wareham
"T" and her boys fled a domestic violence situation in Wareham and are currently living in a shelter in New Bedford.
In order to protect her identity, we'll be referring to the mom in today's story as "T".
T and her boys have recently moved into a shelter in New Bedford after feeling a domestic violence situation. Since moving in, T has gotten a job, has her boys enrolled in school at the shelter, and is working to make enough money to repay her excise tax bill and get her license reinstated.
T's boys are ages three and five and having Christmas in the shelter this year will be a little bit different than what they are used to. So we hope to get them some gifts to make sure they know Santa has found them in their new home. They both love Paw Patrol, toy cars, superheroes, and action figures.
T's biggest hope for her and her family is that she is eventually able to move into a place of her own but she will most likely need all new furnishings once she does get a place as she moved into the shelter with nothing.
If you would like to make a donation to T and her two boys, you can do so by texting “wishes” to 31313 and pledging a donation amount of your choosing. Or by calling 508-994-1071. You can also make a donation online here.
All of our families are pre-selected through the United Way of Greater New Bedford. If you are in need of assistance, please contact the United Way directly.
