Hodgson Discusses Election Day Terror Concerns
People will be casting ballots on Tuesday as Americans prepare to choose a new president.
While most of the focus involves who the next occupant of the Oval Office will be, law enforcement officials are on alert to a possible Election Day terror threat.
Although he says everyone needs to remain vigilant, Bristol County Sheriff Tom Hodgson tells WBSM News there is no specific threat directed towards our region.
"I've not heard anything specifically, but just because we haven't heard anything that doesn't mean we don't want to be very vigilant about this," said Hodgson.
Hodgson also added that the Southcoast has previous experience with terrorists living in our region.
"One of the Tsarnaev brothers was going to school right here in UMass Dartmouth," said Hodgson "these individuals weave themselves into the fabric of our society and anything can happen in any community, we need to just pay attention and if you see anything unusual report it."
New York, Texas, and Virginia have been specifically named as potential targets.
