If you are in need of a night out that is a guaranteed good time, then you need to be at Zeiterion Performing Arts Center on Saturday, April 1, 2023, for An Evening with David Sedaris.

Such a fitting date for this hilarious storyteller to come to New Bedford because he often tells tales that you feel can't possibly have actually happened to someone in real life -- and yet they have.

Sedaris is known for his personal essays and short stories in which he retells the often relatable and always laugh-out-loud funny moments from his real life. Moments like getting a Fitbit for the first time and becoming completely obsessed, or the two seasons he spent as an elf inside Macy's department store in New York.

There seems to be no subject Sedaris won't talk about and somehow nothing he can't turn into a funny story. Even when times are tough and life is upheaval, Sedaris finds a way to laugh about it and make you laugh as well.

Perhaps before you even see Sedaris live at the Zeiterion next spring, you should read a few of his delightful books. "Naked", "Me Talk Pretty One Day" and "SantaLand Diaries" are among his firsts and literally made me laugh out loud (alone by the way) when I read them.

Sedaris is touring in support of his latest essay collection, "Happy-Go-Lucky," which takes the reader through his life before, during and after the Covid-19 pandemic. One can only imagine what the hilarious David Sedaris got up to while in lockdown.

Not only can you read all about it in his new book, but soon you will also be able to hear Sedaris himself talk about it on the stage of the Zeiterion. Tickets for his April Fools' Day show go on sale soon at the Zeiterion box office and online.
