Here’s When to Plan Your Memorial Day Weekend Cookout
If you are trying to make plans for Memorial Day weekend, we reached out to ABC6 Chief Meteorologist Kristina Shalhoup to find out when she thinks might be the ideal time for a cookout or any other outdoor plans.
Kristina said we should expect this week to be cooler across the SouthCoast with the middle and end of the week bringing gray skies and rain. However, the good news is that things are expected to brighten over the weekend.
"Thursday looks like it will be a bit of a soaker," she said. "Expect some chilly raw weather. Highs will only be in the upper 40s and low 50s, so it will have a really raw fee, but each day gets a little better from there."

Holiday Weekend Gets Better with Each Day
Friday still looks pretty gray and we could see a few showers with some mist and drizzle. Highs will be in the mid-to-upper 50s.
Saturday looks mostly cloudy with highs in the upper 50s and low 60s with a stray shower possible.
Sunday continues the improving trend with a mix of sun and clouds. A stray shower is still in the mix but highs will reach the low-to-mid 60s.
Monday Is the Pick of the Holiday Weekend
"The best weather day however actually looks to be Memorial Day itself," Shalhoup said. "Our unsettled pattern comes to an end just in time for Monday, and right now it looks like we will be mostly sunny with highs in the upper 60s and low 70s."
If you are making plans to be outside for a cookout or a party, then Monday is your day.
"That said, I do not want to discourage you from enjoying the outdoors on Saturday and Sunday," she said. "While neither of the two weekend days is a 10 out of 10, neither is a washout. You may want sweatshirts instead of short sleeves but there will still be time to get outside and enjoy the long weekend."

Kristina reminded us that we are still a week away from Memorial Day so things may change. However she does not expect a significant change. The team at ABC6 will keep you updated.
