'Tis the season...Our Newsfeeds are flooded with engagement announcements and my jaw DROPPED seeing how much people are spending on rings.

Maybe it's because I'm not a huge jewelry person but I was absolutely floored when I read this article on how much (on average) people are spending on popping the question...

In 2017, people spent about $6,500 on an engagement ring.

$6,500?! WHAT THE WHAT. That is A LOT OF MONEY!

In addition to the $6,000+ ring, couples spent an average of 3.5 months looking for the perfect ring, 4.5 months planning the proposal, and about 45% of rings are a custom design.

According to The Knot, it's also more common for proposals to not be a surprise because both parties are involved in planning, choosing the ring, and deciding on their future as a couple.
