It's a movie experience like no other and I can't imagine a better film to do this with. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone with a live orchestra on stage!

This weekend I got the chance to experience the first Harry Potter film with all the music played by a live orchestra at the Providence Performing Arts Center.

The movie is of course one I have seen dozens of times, but experiencing it with a live orchestra takes it to a whole new level.

This Harry Potter Film Concert Series has traveled the world, but it was the first time it had been performed in Providence.

The Rhode Island Philharmonic played flawlessly under the direction of Chinese conductor and violinist Shih-Hung Young for the duration of the film, often times making you completely forget that the music was live at all.

I was honestly a little amazed at how the concert/movie goer could forget about the massive orchestra taking up the stage, but you could. They did not actually distract from the film at all, they just enhanced the viewing experience.

And the audience enhanced things too!

Seeing the film with an very enthusiastic audience is a must for all Potter fans. People were cheering for their favorite characters and moments, booing the bad guys and just generally enjoying the experience together.

And the experience doesn't end here!

PPAC's Harry Potter program promoted the fact that Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is coming soon!

So if you missed out on this live Harry Potter show, don't skip the second one. It is a one-of-a-kind movie/concert experience for viewers of all ages.
