Hair Tie Causes Infection On Woman’s Wrist
It's something many women do every day, but apparently not all hair ties should be worn on your wrist!
A woman in Kentucky ended up with a serious (and kind of gross) infection on her wrist after wearing a glittery hair tie around it.
Seems Audree Kopp was in the middle of moving and to pull her hair back when necessary, she wore a hair tie around her wrist. And in the midst of the moving chaos, didn't noticed a large, red bump growing where the hair tie was.
As WLKY reported, the bump grew to the size of a quarter and caused Kopp some serious pain.
Eventually her doctor informed her she had to undergo emergency surgery or risk sepsis!
So why the infection from a hair tie?
As Dr. Amit Gupta at Norton Healthcare told the TV station, bacteria from Kopp's hair-tie likely got under her skin through her pores and hair follicles, causing three types of infection.
So if you've got a hair tie on your wrist right now...maybe think twice!
