Covanta SEMASS hosted its 19th Annual Charitable Golf Tournament on Friday, September 17 at the Cape Club in Falmouth with the Gleason Family YMCA, the nonprofit chosen to receive the full proceeds of the event. The $11,940 raised will help fund the Gleason Y’s Annual Campaign with a focus on their food insecurity work under the Full Plate Project. The Full Plate Project, a partnership between YMCA Southcoast and the Greater Boston Food Bank, hosts free mobile markets twice a month at the Gleason Y that each provide healthy, fresh food to up to 300 households.

Debbie Fringuelli is the Senior Executive Director at the Gleason Family YMCA. She commented on the donation.

“The Gleason Family YMCA (GFY) is so grateful to Covanta for selecting us as their charity of choice for their fundraising golf tournament,” Fringuelli said. “Covanta/SEAMASS has evolved into a major supporter of the community work we do at the GFY. Their staff give their time to volunteer at events and generously support our Annual Campaign with individual giving. Covanta has been there at our Thanksgiving Turkey and Trimmings program and our distribution of farm produce boxes. Their employees are always the first to show up and last to go. In addition, Covanta has supported our summer campers, school backpack program, and toothbrush kit program. We are so fortunate to have them in our community!”

Covanta is a modern-day waste-to-energy incineration company that offers a more sustainable alternative to landfilling waste for communities and businesses.
