For all first responders who go above and beyond the line of duty, we salute you.

Instead of nominating just one first responder this month, we nominated the entire New Bedford Police Union Cycling Team; Detective Makayla Saunders, Sergeant Bryan Safioleas, Officer Kyle Cabral, Officer Jared Lizotte, Officer Hank Turgeon, Sergeant Troy Spirlet. This was sponsored by our good friends over at Southcoast Health and ProGroup Contracting, these men and women have been nominated for not only doing their job, but for exceeding expectations, all in the service of their community.

Without further ado, your First Responders for the Month of May 2019 is the New Bedford Police Union Cycling Team.

The New Bedford Police Union Cycling Team received numerous submissions at Fun107.com, making the group of an obvious choice for this award.

This year, the New Bedford Police Union Cycling Team raised $15,230 for the Police Unity Tour. Over the past 7 years, the New Bedford Police Union Cycling Team has also donated approximately $200,000 to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. This year was particularly special as the team hosted and rode with Dara Gannon, the wife of late Yarmouth Officer and New Bedford native Sean Gannon.

If you know someone or a group of special people who deserve to be recognized for their hard work and commitment as a first responder, nominate them below so we can honor them for their selfless acts of courage, compassion and loyalty to the job force they signed up for, knowing that there would and will be challenging days ahead of them.

Kudos, to the NBPD Team Members, keep up the incredible work, we appreciate you.
