For all first responders who go above and beyond the line of duty, we salute you.

Our most recent recipient of the First Responders of the Month award, sponsored by our good friends over at Baystate Window and DoorSouthcoast Health and ProGroup Contracting, has been nominated for not only doing their job but for exceeding expectations, all in the service of their community.

Without further ado, your First Responders for the Month for June 2019 are the Acushnet Fire & EMS department!

Acushnet Fire & EMS received numerous submissions at Fun107.com, making them the obvious choice for this award. One nomination letter mentioned a specific incident that occurred, showing the compassion and dedication to the community for what this individual did.

“I am not writing this because he is my husband. I have known Paul since he has been on the Acushnet fire dept when my dad was his deputy chief. Paul has gone above and beyond for not only the town of Acushnet but for anyone in need. He has rescued many from car accidents, medical situations, and fires. He puts others before himself. He will run into a burning house while everyone else is running out. Recently we were heading to Dave and Busters and came up on a rollover accident in Westport in a rainy Sunday morning. Without hesitation. He pulled the car into the median and immediately ran to the vehicle and began doing what he could for those trapped in the car (2 adults and 2 children) as the vehicle was on its roof. He kept everyone calm while making sure they were all safe until the fire and Ems responded with proper equipment. He is just a hard-working family man who will always provide for him family and make sure everyone is taken care of!” -Rebecca Frysinger (Wife of Paul Frysinger)

Once again, this is only the tip of the iceberg and one of many heroic stories that emerge from the Acushnet Fire and EMS department and we applaud every team member at the station who is simply just "doing their job" that they love.

ProGroup Contracting donated a $300 gift card to the station to use as they please and Acushnet Creamery even delivered a little ice cream party for all the staff personnel.

If you know someone who deserves to be recognized for their hard work and commitment as a first responder, nominate them below so we can honor them for their selfless acts of courage, compassion and loyalty to the job force they signed up for, knowing that there would and will be challenging days ahead of them.
