FedEx thinks it has found the perfect regional distribution center off Route 6 in Seekonk.

ABC6 reports that an overgrown plot of land just next to a driving range on Route 6 could be the future home of a 250,000-square-foot distribution center for FedEx.

The shipping company's site plan has been granted conditional approval by the Seekonk planning board, but that is just the first of several steps.

The plan, which includes sound barriers at the back of the building to reduce noise for area residents, must go through state and local permitting beforeFedEx could break ground (which they hope to do by 2017).

If everything does get approved, the distribution center would bring about 180 part and full time jobs with it.

FedEx's next hearing is January 11th to address the wetland issues.
