For the third consecutive year, Marion's Davin Alves is stepping up to support those in need during the holidays.

Inspired by a desire to ensure no one goes hungry, Davin first approached his parents three years ago with the idea of organizing a holiday raffle to raise funds for local food pantries.

The family’s efforts have grown significantly since their inaugural event. In 2022, Davin's holiday raffle raised over $900, enabling the family to donate an impressive amount of food to local food pantries.

By 2023, their success skyrocketed, with the raffle raising over $3,000 and facilitating even larger donations.

His mom Kathy recently shared their journey on social media, emphasizing how meaningful this project is for Davin and their family.

“This event is so important to Davin, and we will do anything to support him, but we can’t do it without your help,” she wrote.

The process involves purchasing or sourcing donated items from local businesses and then auctioning them off through a raffle that is streamed live on Facebook. All proceeds directly fund the purchase of food for donation.

As Davin and his family gear up for this year’s holiday raffle, they remain hopeful for another successful season of giving back.

A post announcing this year’s raffle items and ticket information is expected soon. The Alves family encourages the community to join them in their mission by purchasing tickets, spreading the word or contributing items to the raffle.
