Fall River Shooting ‘Unintentional’ But Charges May Be Coming
At about 1:50 p.m. today, police were dispatched to a third floor apartment in the 100-block of John Street after receiving multiple calls about a man who had been shot.
Officers arrived and found a man and a woman both suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest.
Police spoke with the victims, and said the Major Crimes Division is “investigating what is now being reported as a single unintentional discharge of a firearm.” Police said both people were injured by the discharge because of their proximity to one another. They said evidence collected at the scene supports what they were told by the victims.
Police said both people remain hospitalized but that their injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.
Their names have not been released.
The man will remain in police custody, police said, because he is a fugitive from justice with an outstanding warrant in New Hampshire for an unarmed robbery.
The incident remains under investigation, and police said that one or both victims may face criminal charges for firearms-related offenses.
