Fall River Favorite Roger’s Coney Island Is Reopening
In a not-so-surprising turn of events, Roger’s Coney Island won’t be closed for long after all. Two familiar Fall River names are prepared to save the day: Cliff Ponte and Kyle Lima.
It was only 10 days ago that Fall River was struck with the sad news that the iconic Roger’s Coney Island would be shutting its doors this past Sunday. Owner Jay Alexander announced that the restaurant would be permanently closing in a heavy-hearted Facebook post.
"Although this is difficult for our customers, it was a very difficult decision to make because of our loyal employees," Roger's posted. "Ashley, who has been running the day-to-day along with a great crew of employees that have been with Roger’s for 20+ years, made this decision difficult. I want to express sincere thanks to them and to you for your support."

Alexander praised all of the other Fall River businesses.
"You will surely find many places to go," he said.

As it turns out, they won’t have to. Restaurant owner, real estate broker and former Fall River politician Cliff Ponte, along with Fall River firefighter and realtor Kyle Lima, have announced they will be buying Roger’s Coney Island.
The best part? All signs point to the duo leaving the classic Roger’s menu untouched.
“Our goal is to honor the legacy by keeping the essence of Roger’s alive while also bringing our passion for quality and service to the table,” Ponte said.

Lima said that he and Ponte plan on keeping as many employees as possible.
"They are the heart and soul of Roger’s, and we want to ensure that they continue to be part of this iconic establishment," he said.
A reopening date will be announced very soon.
“We have signed an agreement to purchase real estate and a management agreement to take over ASAP under existing licenses as we prepare to re-launch," Ponte said.
Looks like Fall River will have its Roger’s back in the not-too-distant future.
