A Fall River restaurant's heartfelt call for compassion in response to a one-star review is winning over the community.

Primo on Water Street took to social media over the weekend, spotlighting an online review left by a supposed customer named "Edward O." In the seven-word review, Edward criticizes Primo's prices and alleges the business "pushes transgender nonsense."

Negative reviews are par for the course when you own a business these days, but this one didn't sit well with the Italian-American restaurant and event space, which Shannon Raposo and James Anthony Primo III opened in early 2024.

"It's disheartening to realize that a single one-star review can overshadow countless positive experiences," the restaurant posted on Facebook. "We pour our hearts into creating a welcoming atmosphere, and it pains us to see our efforts dismissed so casually."

Primo emphasized that it prides itself on an inclusive and welcoming environment, and that the negative review was completely unfounded. The post asked people to reflect on the impact of their words and to understand the consequences of online harassment.

The community rallied behind the restaurant, flooding online review platforms with positive feedback. A day later, the restaurant said the outpouring love was overwhelming.

"We are truly humbled by the outpouring of support and encouragement," Primo posted. "Your kindness and compassion have given us the strength to continue serving this wonderful community with love and dedication."
