FALL RIVER (WBSM) — Multiple arrests have been made in Fall River this week as a result of the gun violence task force cracking down on escalating gun violence within the city, Fall River Police said.

The cases also involved multiple juvenile offenders.

On Tuesday, June 11, Brett Swaider, 20, and a 16-year-old juvenile were arrested and charged with multiple gun violations, including carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a large-capacity firearm, and carrying a loaded firearm in public without a license to carry.

A few days later, on June 13, officers arrested three more individuals.

A 16-year-old juvenile was arrested on a youth services warrant in addition to charges including carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a large capacity firearm and trespassing.

A 17-year-old juvenile was arrested for trespassing, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and possession of a large-capacity firearm.

Jayden Rios-Dejesus, 23, was also arrested and charged with trespassing.

Sergeant Moses Pereira said that the Violence Task Force, which works in collaboration with the Vice Intelligence and Gang Unit, "will increase the presence of officers in concentrated areas within the community based on actionable intelligence and recent events."
