The Kmart at the New Harbour Mall will be closing its doors this spring.

A Sears Holding Company spokesperson confirmed with WPRI 12 today that the New Harbor Mall Kmart will be one of two Kmart stores in Southern New England to close its doors.

They say the store will be shut down by May.

Shoppers can start saving big when the liquidation sale at the Fall River Kmart starts up on March 10th.

WPRI 12 spoke with Howard Riefs, the Director of Corporate Communications for Sears Holdings Corporation, who told them the Fall River store closing is part of a plan to help

reduce ongoing expenses, adjust our asset base, and accelerate the transformation of our business model.”

The Fall River Kmart employs 79 people according to WPRI. Riefs tells them all of those employees are eligible for severance and will have the opportunity to apply for new jobs at other area Sears and Kmart stores.
