Fall River Police Arrest 16-Year-Old With Firearm at Pulaski Park
FALL RIVER (WBSM) — Fall River Police arrested a juvenile and seized a firearm with an extended magazine in an arrest Tuesday at Pulaski Park.
On November 5, members of the newly-formed Fall River Police Community Action Suppression Team (CAST) were on proactive patrol in the area of the park due to complaints about suspicious activity occurring there, police said.
At about 3 p.m., members of the unit observed two males standing on the sidewalk of Pulaski Street just outside the entrance to the park.
“Two of the males, one wearing a hooded sweatshirt and the other wearing a ‘sheisty style’ ski mask, were observed to be intently monitoring motorists as they passed by and were observed displaying behavioral characteristics consistent with individuals who illegally possess firearms,” police said.
They said there was also a third male in the group that investigators had recently received intelligence on and was believed to be in possession of a firearm.
Police said taking those details into account, “investigators approached the individuals, at which time the male in the hooded sweatshirt fled into the park on foot while clutching his waistband and ignoring verbal commands by investigators.”
He was apprehended as he attempted to jump over a fence. Police said a semi-automatic Taurus 9mm firearm was found on him equipped with a 32-round extended magazine that contained 20 rounds of ammunition.
The male, who is 16 years old and was not identified due to his status as a minor, was arrested and charged with possession of a large capacity firearm, carrying a loaded firearm without a license to carry, and carrying a firearm without an LTC.
