Fall River Game Room to Host Sensory-Sensitive Event in April
Barrett's Alehouse in Fall River is celebrating those who are sensitive to lights and sounds with an event that modifies both.
The very first “Sensory Night” will take place on Tuesday, April 20, and is actually an all-day affair. Starting at 11 am, Barrett’s will be able to accommodate anyone who may feel overwhelmed during regular business hours.
We reached out to Bobbi Lu Holmgren, the General Manager at Barrett’s Alehouse for more information.
“We have seen a lot of posts online about kids and adults with sensory issues not having anywhere to go during the pandemic,” said Holmgren. “So, we partnered with our gaming companies in order to give them a chance to have fun without worrying about excessive lights and sounds.”
Sensory Night provides those on the spectrum to enjoy the game room with modifications to sound, lighting, and prizes along with fewer guests in an accepting and inclusive environment.
“We wanted to create a space for them to feel comfortable in our game room with prizes that are adaptive to their needs,” said Holmgren.
The event is attracting a lot of attention from all over, including north of Boston. Due to this demand, it is Holmgren’s hope that this event can eventually expand to the Bridgewater locations, providing game room accessibility to all.
Per COVID-19 safety guidelines, reservations are strongly recommended and are limited to 90 minutes. In addition, only six guests are allowed to sit at one table.
