Fall River’s Megan Rego Photography is known across the SouthCoast for capturing stunning portraits, but this week, she captured something even better: pure comedy gold.

Rego pulled off a trending family-friendly prank on her uncle, Armindo Rego, convincing him that her tiny chihuahua Phoebe was getting baptized in a few weeks – and of course, he was invited.

In true Portuguese-uncle fashion, he said he’d go, but with major “this sounds ridiculous” hesitation.

Thanks to her cousin’s Meta Glasses, the whole thing was recorded without Armindo realizing a thing. The confusion on his face was priceless.

A Trend Meets the Perfect Family

The prank went down just yesterday at Guys & Gals in New Bedford, Rego’s parents’ store, right as Armindo was meeting up with her dad to head to the airport. Yup, he was on his way to Portugal to catch a Benfica game when he got hit with the fake Phoebe baptism news.

Rego could barely get the words out without cracking up.

“He completely believed me,” she told Fun 107.

Armindo’s wholesome reaction is exactly why Rego said she’s always telling her cousins to put him on TikTok.

“He’s truly a gem and would be so loved,” she said. “That’s my Vavó’s son. It checks out.”

A Star Is Born (Whether He Likes It or Not)

The video shows Armindo processing the news with the perfect combination of Portuguese skepticism and unconditional family support. He might not totally understand why a dog needs a baptism, but if his niece needs him there, he’s going.

That’s family for you.

Rego said Armindo reminds her so much of her grandparents – the same humor, same heart, same “are you kidding me right now?” expressions.

Now, thanks to one perfectly executed prank, he’s about to become a local legend.

One minute he’s heading to Portugal to cheer on Benfica, the next he’s being told to mark his calendar for a chihuahua baptism.

You really can’t script this stuff.
