FALL RIVER (WBSM) — The identity of the victim of Saturday evening’s fatal shooting in Fall River has now been released.

The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office publicly identified the victim as Juan Manuel Batista Castro, 44, of Fall River.

Fall River Police responded to 911 calls at about 5:18 p.m. on December 23 reporting a man shot at 326 Bank Street. First responders arrived to find Castro on the porch, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A second man was found nearby suffering from an injury to his hand that was not life-threatening. He was transported to Charlton Memorial Hospital for treatment.

No further information has been released at this time and the investigation remains ongoing.
