FALL RIVER (WBSM) — A homicide investigation is underway in Fall River after two people were shot Saturday evening, one fatally.

According to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, Fall River Police responded at around 5:18 p.m. on December 23 to 911 calls reporting a man shot at 326 Bank Street.

First responders arrived to find a 44-year-old Fall River man on the porch, suffering from a gunshot wound. EMS determined at the scene that he had no viable signs of life, the D.A.’s Office said, and he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

He has not been publicly identified at this time, pending notification of next of kin.

A second person was found nearby suffering from an injury to his hand that was not life-threatening. He was transported to Charlton Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The incident is under investigation by Massachusetts State Police assigned to the D.A.’s Office, Fall River Police and Homicide Unit investigators. The D.A.’s Office said “several individuals” are being interviewed and the investigation remains “extremely active.”
