Fairhaven’s Sconticut Neck Water to Be Shut Off
For those that live and work in Fairhaven, there is an unusual occurrence that is set to happen late tonight. As town workers continue to work on the road construction by the bike path at the top of Sconticut Neck, a water main leak has presented itself. In order to get access to the water main leak, it has become necessary to shut off the water supply to everyone south of Route 6 on the Neck down to Manhattan Road.
Hoping to Keep Inconvenience to Overnight Hours
The water department realizes that this is a less than ideal situation, so they are going to be shutting the water off as late as they can to keep most of the downtime in the overnight hours and cause as little disruption as possible. The earliest that the water will be shut off tonight will be at 9 pm. Officials say they will restore water service as soon as is humanly possible.
Residents in the affected area of Fairhaven may want to stock up on some bottled water and use it tonight to cook and brush their teeth. They also may want to shower before bed tonight, as a morning shower may or may not be in the cards (depending upon what time you wake up).
Most homes and businesses on the side streets off of the affected area of Sconticut Neck Road should plan for not having water available to them.
Watch For Water Discoloration
Fairhaven Public Works also notes that residences and businesses may experience dirty water tomorrow morning. They strongly suggest running the cold water faucet before drinking it or opening up the hot water valve.
