No, Fairhaven, your eyes did not deceive you.

It’s not every day you pull into the Dollar Tree and Staples plaza in Fairhaven and see – well, something phallic.

Friday at around 7:29 a.m., several witnesses spotted a gray SUV driving through the plaza with what appeared to be an oversized inflatable pool float strapped to the roof. Let’s just say, the float’s “design” raised a few eyebrows.

Witness Reactions

Tiffany Defrias, who was in the middle of posting about her daughter’s Sweet 16 at the time, said she had to stop everything and get a closer look.

“It came out of nowhere!” Defrias laughed. “I legit drove in a circle around the car to get video.”

Fairhaven's Kim Texeira also couldn’t help but chime in after seeing the vehicle, joking on Facebook:

“Just your random p**** on a car… Or I need another coffee.” You can see the actual photo that she shared here, but be warned, it's N.S.F.W.

Jimmy DeMedeiros, Jr. added his own commentary with a quick photo and the caption:

“That’s a first, stay classy Fairhaven.”

Birthday Clues?

Adding to the mystery, I noticed that the SUV’s windows had chalk writing on them, including one that read “Happy Birthday.” That little detail has me believing this spectacle may have been part of a birthday prank, the kind friends never let you live down.

Since the car was parked early morning in that plaza leads to me think that whoever had a birthday that works at the Subway, Staples, Dollar Tree or perhaps Tractor Supply was in for a rude awakening when they got out of work.

My money it on Dollar Tree or Staples.

Mystery Still Unsolved

Even with the birthday clue, questions remain. Was it a gag gift? A lost fantasy football bet? A bachelorette – or dare we say bachelor – party on the move? Nobody knows for sure.

What is certain, however, is that this parked SUV has Fairhaven buzzing. So if you were in the plaza today and thought you saw something out of the ordinary, you weren’t imagining it.
