No matter what kind of day you had, it will always end on a good note when you come home to a pet. In my opinion, petting your four-legged friend is the best stress reliever, and everyone deserves unconditional love from an animal. If you are interested in adding a pet to the family, where do you start? Start with Wet Nose Wednesday.

I have teamed up with shelters on the SouthCoast to get as many pets adopted as possible, and every Wednesday, Fun 107 gives one local animal the spotlight to connect animals and loving families. This week, let me introduce you to Chester.

Chester is an Australian Shepherd mix with a great attitude and even greater smile. The Fairhaven Animal Shelter is Chester’s current home, and the shelter believes he is about one and a half years old.

Chester was found as a stray, roaming the streets of the SouthCoast before he found his sanctuary. Terry Cripps, director of the shelter, said, “We don’t understand how someone could do that to such a sweetheart, but he is ready to make some lucky family complete.”

Chester loves running, playing fetch, and being the center of attention. He is still learning the meaning of personal space when it comes to humans, but he is still young and very trainable.

He used to live his days on the streets. Now, his days are better at the shelter, but Chester deserves to be loved unconditionally by a family who is ready to take him in forever.

LOOK: Here Are 30 Foods That Are Poisonous to Dogs

To prepare yourself for a potential incident, always keep your vet's phone number handy, along with an after-hours clinic you can call in an emergency. The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center also has a hotline you can call at (888) 426-4435 for advice.

Even with all of these resources, however, the best cure for food poisoning is preventing it in the first place. To give you an idea of what human foods can be dangerous, Stacker has put together a slideshow of 30 common foods to avoid. Take a look to see if there are any that surprise you.
